Phuket

1/10

Phuket

Phuket is located on the Upper Andaman Coast to the west of the Southern Thailand peninsula.  A beautifully rugged and scenic island jutting out into the green waters of the Andaman Sea and is one of the most popular tourist resorts in Thailand. There are accommodations dotted all around the island allowing you to choose from quiet laid back resorts to resorts offering more opportunity for shopping and nightlife. Either way several beaches await you, plenty of mouth-watering cuisine to tempt you and cultural landmarks to visit should you manage to tear yourself away from the beach.

Patong is probably the busiest and most popular area. It has a huge beach and is known for its buzzing nightlife and very lively atmosphere. Towns like Karon and Kata have slightly smaller and less crowded beaches and suit those looking for a quieter experience that that of Patong while still being near enough to it that can you hop into a taxi or tuk tuk and be there in about 10 minutes. Having said that Kata and Karon do have their own fair share of bars and restaurants to keep you entertained with Karon being the slightly bigger resort of the two. For those who want even more seclusion there are some stunning hotel resorts in remote parts of the island.

You can explore the island by taking one of the many day tours available either by land or sea. The larger resorts have a variety of water sports on offer including jet skis, wind surfing and banana boats to name a few. Diving is extremely popular thanks to the stunning marine life. Bear in mind though that Phuket does not have any natural coral but the nearby islands such as Koh Phi Phi do. Golfers are well catered for in Phuket with approx. 6 courses to choose from. There is something for everyone in Phuket and with so many choices it suits all types of budget and makes for a great holiday destination.
