SEASON'S GREETINGS FROM ALL AT SUNWAY!

Chiang Mai

1/10

Chiang Mai

Often called the 'Rose of the North' Chiang Mai is a 70 minute flight north of Bangkok. It is Thailand’s second largest city and for many people it’s cultural capital. Historically it is the focal point of the Lanna culture and the centre for Buddhism in Northern Thailand. Famous not only for its beautiful temples but for its excellent sightseeing, stunning scenery, mountain resorts, hill-dwelling tribes, trekking facilities and shopping. All of which manage to intermingle with modern conveniences. For example you may find a centuries old pagoda sitting alongside a boutique hotel! It enjoys its reputation as one of Thailand’s most artistic cities. The people of Northern Thailand pride themselves on their welcoming nature and unique culture. Their laid back carefree vibe is very appealing!

The moat-encircled old city retains much of its original fortified walls which once protected the city. The old city is a showcase for the regions unique culture and identity including different dialects, distinctive architecture and cuisine, lively festivals, traditional costume and bustling markets. Outside the city you can avail of the regions popular soft adventure activities including elephant trekking, rafting, excursions to one of its seven national parks, mountain villages and waterfalls. The scenery is truly breath-taking. Evenings can be spent enjoying the local hospitality in the many affordable restaurants and bars within the city. Or perhaps indulge in a spot of shopping as you wander through the markets.
