Victoria Falls and Zambia
The Victoria Falls moved David Livingstone, renowned explorer and the first white man to see this natural wonder of the world, to say: “a scene so beautiful it must have been gazed upon by angels in their flight”. Known as “Mosi o a Thunya” (the smoke that thunders), the Falls are one and a half times as wide and twice as high as Niagra Falls, and are a truly awesome sight.
The Zambian side of The Victoria Falls provides an entirely separate experience to its better-known Zimbabwean counterpart. Situated in the 46-hectare Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Wildlife Park, the views are spectacular, you can sidle right up to the falling water by walking down a track to the base of the falls following walkways perched over the abyss.
The other highlight of this region is the Zambezi River whose beauty and splendour lured early adventurers and explorers. Still even today many modern day travellers are unable to resist the River's magnetism as it provides countless opportunities for adrenalin-packed water sports or incredible game and bird viewing.
Note: Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificates are required for clients travelling to Zambia.
