SEASON'S GREETINGS FROM ALL AT SUNWAY!

Havana

1/1

Havana

Havana is the exotic capital city of Cuba, the largest city in the Caribbean and home to nearly 3 million people. It lies on the northern coast of the island, south of the Florida Keys and where the Gulf of Mexico meets the Caribbean! The city is famed for its history, culture, monuments, architecture and lively salsa rhythms! There are 3 distinct areas within Havana; Old Havana, Vedado and the more modern suburban districts. Old Havana is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Top historical sites and places of interest include Cathedral Square, the La Rampa area of Vedado which is home to Revolution Square and the José Martí Monument (the highest lookout in the city at an impressive 138 metres above sea level) and the Colon Cemetery which is one of the world’s largest necropolises with many more sights besides. Hemingway’s favourite spots are also popular tourist attractions and they include the Ambos Mundos hotel, the Floridita and Bodeguita del Meido restaurants and the charming fishing village of Cojimar which is about 6km east of the city.

A charming and lively city with plenty to keep the night owl in you entertained too! Or if you fancy soaking up a bit of the sun you're not too far from a beach with the nearest one only being a 20 minute drive from downtown Havana. The Playa del Este area has approx. 15km of beach to choose from. Your visit to Cuba will not be complete without spending some time here, whether you combine it with a beachside getaway in Varadero or Guardalavaca or stay in Havana itself for a few days.

TOP TIPS:
Visit a cigar factory in Havana and see the genuine Cuban being made, take a vintage 1950’s car tour around Havana or for fans of Hemingway, visit his house.

Please note: with Cuba’s continued economic development it is not at the same level as we have in Europe and some aspects of life in Cuba are very different from what we experience here in Ireland, You must take into consideration that certain standards in services levels and transport may not be what we are accustomed too.

Sunway offer twin centre holidays in Cuba along with private and escorted tours. Please call our dedicated sales team who will happily tailor-make a package for you.
