Ubud
Located among rolling hills and rice terraces Ubud is only 35km northeast of Bali’s International Airport and enjoys pleasantly cooler temperatures than the coast making it a great place to visit if you're looking to explore more than just the beaches of the island.
The area is made up of several villages each with its own character. It is known as Bali’s cultural and artistic centre. The hills and mountains surrounding Ubud are home to traditional villages as well as some of the most spectacular scenery in Bali.
Famous for its arts and crafts including stone and wood carving there are galleries to be found everywhere coupled with museums and temples. Traditional dance performances are commonplace on the streets and opulent Hindu-Balinese festivals are regular occurrences.
Several of Bali’s most ancient monuments and popular tourist attractions are around the Ubud area including Pura Samuan Tiga temple, the ancient carvings on the cliff face of Yeh Palu and Taro Elephant Safari Park to name just a few. Soak up the atmosphere browsing in the local markets and enjoy the hospitality of the restaurants. Despite being such a popular resort the pace of life is still slow and Ubud oozes a traditional Balinese charm.
