Join us for a 7-night walking adventure along Croatia’s stunning Dalmatian Coast, where breathtaking natural beauty and rich cultural heritage combine for an unforgettable holiday. Accompanied by local expert walking guides, our journey takes us through a series of captivating hikes along the shores of the turquoise Adriatic Sea.

Each walking route is carefully designed for moderate levels, allowing you to experience nature at a comfortable yet energetic pace. Discover the dramatic limestone cliffs of the Cetina Canyon, ascend the majestic Biokovo Mountains, and explore the historic trails of Brac Island and vibrant coastal towns like Makarska and Omis.

Let each day reveal the captivating blend of history, culture, and stunning vistas that make Croatia’s landscapes so unforgettable.

This holiday is graded as a moderate walking holiday. Hikes range from 11km-16km. Expect to be walking between 3 to 6 hours per day with ascents between 140m – 610m and descents between 140m - 740m on good paths, with some rocky sections. A good level of fitness and previous hiking experience is required for this holiday.

Itinerary


Day 1- Travel to Croatia

Our Croatian walking adventure along the stunning Dalmatian Coast begins today! We will travel from Dublin on a direct flight to Split, meet our local walking guide and then travel to our hotel in the charming seaside town of Baska Voda. (Transfer time approx. 1.5hrs / 100km) We will be based in the 5 star Bluesun Hotel Berulia. With its beachside location, swimming pools and modern facilities, this hotel is the perfect base for our 7 night walking holiday.
Dependent on flight times you will have the rest of the day to unwind before meeting our group for dinner tonight.

Day 2 – Cetina Canyon & Omis

After breakfast, we’ll travel to the picturesque village of Kostanje, to begin our hiking adventure. We’ll enjoy a scenic hike through beautiful landscapes in the green hillsides offering breathtaking views of the crystal-clear Cetina River below. Our trail will lead us to the Cetina canyon, where the river winds through dramatic limestone cliffs. To admire the scenery further we will embark on a boat ride to the charming town of Omiš. Once a notorious pirate haven in the Middle Ages, Omiš boasts fortresses and captivating stories that echo its adventurous past. You’ll have free time to explore the narrow streets and soak in the vibrant atmosphere before we return to our hotel.

Today's moderate walk of 12km is expected to take approximately 3-4 hours with ascents of 230m and descents of 500m.

Day 3 – Foothills of the Biokovo Mountains

Today’s adventure begins right from our hotel as we set out to hike through the foothills of the majestic Biokovo Mountains, Croatia’s second-highest mountain range. Rising impressively from the Adriatic coastline, the Biokovo offers sweeping views over the coast and nearby islands. We’ll climb a scenic mountain path that reveals panoramic vistas at every turn before making our way back downhill toward the shore. We will then follow the coastline on a promenade through small beach resorts with the opportunity to pause for a drink or a swim on our way back to Brela.

Today's moderate walk of 16km is expected to take approximately 5-6 hours with ascents of 500m and descents of 495m.

Day 4 – Brac Island

Today let’s travel by boat to the nearby island of Brac, known for its pristine natural beauty and iconic white limestone, famously used in constructing the White House in Washington, D.C., the Parliament House in Budapest, and Diocletian's Palace in Split. Once we step ashore, we will explore the interesting foot paths that meander across the island, enjoying beautiful scenery that includes pine forests and breathtaking views of the deep blue Adriatic Sea. Our hike will finish along the coast where perhaps we can cool down with a refreshing swim, after which we will return via boat to the mainland and our hotel.

Today's moderate walk of 13km is expected to take approximately 3-4 hours with ascents of 140m and descents of 140m.

Day 5 – Tucepi and the Biokovo Hills

Today we will continue our discovery of the Biokovo mountain range. Starting from the foothills of Biokovo near Makarska, our hike will follow the various paths to the coastal town of Tucepi, Along the way, we’ll immerse ourselves in the rich cultural heritage of rural Croatia, visiting charming historic churches and quaint villages. A highlight of the day will be exploring the 17th-century Veliki Kaštel fort, offering panoramic views over the shimmering islands of Brac and Hvar.

Today's moderate walk of 11km is expected to take approximately 5-6 hours with ascents of 610m and descents of 645m.

Day 6 – At leisure or Optional Day trip to Split

Today is yours to spend at leisure. You can relax on the beach or explore some of the nearby towns. Our local guide will also offer an optional day trip to the nearby historic town of Split. At its heart lies Diocletian’s Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the grand retirement villa of the Roman Emperor Diocletian. Wander through the palace's ancient arches, now home to charming shops, lively bars, and cozy restaurants.

Day 7 – Bast to Markarska

Today we will explore further the scenery along Croatia’s Dalmatian Coast. Starting at the village of Bast we will climb though the village before turning south east on a wide path which offers sweeping coastal views. Our descent takes us through scattered pines and olive groves to reach the peaceful Vepric Shrine We’ll continue on to the vibrant town of Makarska, with time to explore this historic fishing port and its charming streets before returning to our hotel.

Today's moderate walk of 11km is expected to take approximately 5-6 hours with ascents of 460m and descents of 740m.

Day 8 – Return home
Today marks our last day in Croatia. We will travel to Split airport for our return flight home to Dublin reflecting on the wonderful experiences of our walking holiday along Croatia’s Dalmatian Coast.

Please note that this is our planned itinerary but sometimes due to circumstances beyond our control we may have to alter it slightly.
