Itinerary
Day 1
Make your own way to your accommodation in Sarria, the start of the Last 100KM of the French Way. Check into your accommodation and rest up for the 6 days of walking that awaits you. If you have the time, explore Sarria’s rich history by visiting its castle, the convent of Magdalena, the churches of Santa Mariña and El Salvador, or check out some of the local restaurants for dinner.
Day 2
This morning after breakfast at your accommodation, lace up your hiking boots and set off on your Camino de Santiago adventure! Your walk today will take you from Sarria to Portomarín at your own pace, walking under oak trees, small villages and peaceful country roads. Be sure to stop and admire the Romanesque church in the village of Barbedelo. After your walk you will arrive into the picturesque town of Portomarín, your base for the night.
Walking distance 23km // walking time approximately 5-6 hours
Day 3
After breakfast set off from Portomarín, crossing the majestic Miño River, the longest river in Galicia. Next climb uphill towards the hilltop of the Serra de Ligonde offering views of the rolling countryside. As you continue your walk, you'll pass through charming villages like Gonzar and Ventas de Narón, with plenty of opportunities to admire historic churches and the picturesque Galician countryside. Your walk today will finish in Palas de Rei, a town steeped in medieval history, including churches, castles, and ancient bridges.
Walking distance 23km // walking time approximately 5-6 hours
Day 4
Start this morning with a downhill walk from Palas de Rei, walking through the little towns of Coto and Leboreiro. Your route today is lined with beautiful woodland areas and ancient bridges that transport you back in time. Your destination is the charming town of Melide, which played a crucial role in the development of the Camino route to Santiago de Compostela. Don’t miss out on tasting Melide’s speciality, pulpo a la gallega (Galician-style octopus) usually served boiled and cooked with red pepper and paprika.
Walking distance 15km // walking time approximately 4-5 hours
Day 5
After breakfast you’ll leave Melia behind and head onwards along forest track, crossing numerous streams as you make your way towards the village of Boente. Here, you can pause to visit the church of Santiago, a spiritual haven for many pilgrims. Next climb upwards towards the medieval town of Ribadiso, on the banks of the Iso River before arriving at Arzúa. Arzúa offers a welcoming and vibrant atmosphere for pilgrims and is particularly well known for its local cheese and honey.
Walking distance 13km // walking time approximately 3-4 hours
Day 6
After breakfast today continue your pilgrimage as you walk through scenic eucalyptus forests, quiet villages and bubbling streams for most of the day. A must-see along today's route is the Chapel of Santa Irene, a popular stop among pilgrims, renowned for its unique statues of Santiago. Your journey will end in the peaceful area around O Pedrouzo, where you can rest and recharge for your final day on the Camino.

Day 7
You’re almost there! Stop today in Lavacolla, where pilgrims traditionally washed in the river before reaching Santiago de Compostela. As you continue, tall eucalyptus trees line your path, guiding you to Monte del Gozo, or the "Mount of Joy," so named for the jubilant moment when pilgrims first glimpse the Cathedral of Santiago. Descend into the historic city and finish your pilgrimage at the magnificent Santiago de Compostela Cathedral, where you can marvel at its stunning architecture and reflect on your incredible achievement. Do not forget to go to the Pilgrim’s Office with your Pilgrim Passport if you want to get your “Compostela” (Pilgrim Certificate).

Day 8
Your unforgettable Camino de Santiago holiday has come to an end. After breakfast, check out from your hotel and, if time allows, take a final stroll through the charming streets of Santiago's old town. Whether you're heading home or continuing your adventure, we hope you've enjoyed every moment of walking the last 100KM of the Camino de Santiago French Way.

Practical Information
- Luggage Transfers:
Your luggage will be transported between accommodations each day, pick up is normally @ 8am.
- Accommodations:
You will stay in comfortable hotels and pensions(guesthouses), providing a restful end to each day’s trek. Each room has their own en-suite bathroom.
- Walking:
Enjoy the flexibility of this self-paced journey. Make stops along the way for a snack and tea or coffee, there are plenty of resting places and toilet facilities on route. Detailed walking notes will be provided as well as a 24-hour emergency phone number.
Most of all don’t forget to take a moment every now and then to admire your beautiful surroundings.
Top Tips
- Prepare a day pack for each morning containing Water, Blister plasters, medication if required during the day, spare socks, raincoat, snacks etc (keep it as light as possible as you will be carrying this one along the way)
- Ensure you pack comfortable, waterproof walking boots or shoes and be sure they are well worn in before your trip. Bring some cash as the smaller villages along the way don’t accept card.
