Itinerary

Day 1
Make your own way to your accommodation in Baiona, the start of the last 100KM of the Portuguese Coastal Way. The seaside town of Baiona was the place where the news of the discovery of America by Columbus was first received. Explore the scenic seafront promenade offering views of the Monterreal Castle-fortress or lose yourself in the narrow streets of the cobblestoned old town. If time allows, take a refreshing dip in one of Baiona’s inviting beaches before your walking adventure begins.

Day 2
This morning after breakfast at your accommodation, lace up your hiking boots and embark on your Camino de Santiago walking holiday. Today’s route will lead you from Baiona along the Atlantic coast, passing through the charming town of Nigrán with its golden beaches. As you continue, enjoy breathtaking views over the Bay of Vigo and the Cíes Islands. Your day concludes in Vigo, Galicia’s largest town, bustling with energy and offering plenty of sights and dining options.

Walking distance 23km // walking time approximately 6-7 hours

Day 3
After breakfast continue walking the maritime seascapes of the Portuguese Coastal Way. While you will begin today’s walk with an uphill climb, you will be rewarded with stunning views of Vigo and its bustling harbour. As you continue, the path winds through fragrant pine forests and past inviting local beaches. You’ll then arrive in Redondela, known as the "Village of the Viaducts" due to its impressive 19th-century railroad viaducts. Take some time to explore this charming town and soak in its unique atmosphere.

Walking distance 16km // walking time approximately 3-4 hours

Day 4
Today, join the inland Portuguese Camino as you make your way from Redondela to the historic town of Pontevedra. The route continues along the coast, offering views of the Bay of Vigo. A stop to Arcade is well worth the time to taste some of their famous oysters. Cross the historic Pontesampaio Bridge, the site of Napoleon's defeat in the War of Independence, before arriving in Pontevedra. Spend the evening exploring the city's historical centre, with its atmospheric medieval squares and lively tapas bars.

Day 6
After breakfast, cross the river Umia and climb upwards through oak forests, paths among vineyards passing through tiny villages with charming Romanesque churches, such as the Church of Santa Mariña de Carracedo The path then descends toward the River Fontenlo before leading you into Padrón, a town steeped in history. It is believed to be the arrival point of St. James’s body when it was brought to Santiago by ship. Padrón is also famous for its delicious peppers, a Galician delicacy that you won’t want to miss.
