Zakynthos Holidays
Zakynthos is the largest of the Ionian Islands, (also known as Zante) and a well-known summer resort. The harbour city of Zakynthos is the capital and major hub, centred around waterfront Solomos Square. Popular beaches like Agios Nikolaos, Alykanas and Tsilivi offer swimming and water sports. Housing the world-famous Navagio (Shipwreck) beach and the endangered sea turtle species Caretta Caretta, Zakynthos (or Zante) is among the most popular and most beautiful islands in Greece & is known for its spectacular nature, beaches, and villages.
Zakynthos town itself is small enough, so walkable by foot for restaurants and most other things, but if you want to do some exploring outside of town you'll need transport. The coastline of Zakynthos is stunningly beautiful, and many of the best sights on the island are worth touring by boat. A must see is the famous Navagio viewpoint otherwise known as Shipwreck beach, this is a beautiful secluded beach with a smuggler shipwreck. The only way to walk on the beach is with a boat tour as there is no path down the steep cliffs.
Another must see is Marathonisi island, known as turtle island which is a small island near the south coast of Zakynthos. Part of the island is a protected breeding ground for loggerhead sea turtles.
Zakynthos is also famous for its nightlife, particularly in the region of Laganas. Many all-night bars and clubs are located here.
Whether you want to simply enjoy the sun, sea sand & nightlife on this gorgeous island or get out and see the sights, Zakynthos will not dissapoint. This is a beautiful Greek island with great food, people, and scenery.
