Without a doubt, one of the main reasons why visitors come to Perissa every year is its magnificent beach. Black lava sand borders dark blue and deep waters. The beach has excellent amenities and water sports and is kept spotlessly clean with plenty of deck chairs, beds and parasols. The village is 15km from the airport on the southeastern edge of the island at the base of Mesa Vouno mountain. Of course, there's more than just the beach to recommend Perissa. At the top of Mesa Vouno is the ancient site of Thera with its museum and in the town itself, there are several notable churches and chapels.
