Oia

Santorini

Oia (pronounced ee-ya) is the picture-postcard village of the island. It is situated on the north-west coast of Santorini on the slopes of the caldera. If you had to imagine what a Greek village looks like, Oia would be it. It is, of course, most famous for its sunset. Every evening, locals and visitors alike stop what they're doing for a moment or two to wonder and reflect on such an amazing sight. Ammoudi Bay is a beautiful swimming spot at the bottom of the village where you can enjoy the crystal clear waters and the view of the caldera. Two places you must visit when in Oia are the Naval Museum and the ruins of Agios Nikolaos Castle. Oia also has its own winery where you are welcome to sample a glass or two of its delicious wine. Throughout the village there are tavernas, bars, shops and galleries as you meander through its narrow streets all the way down to the bay. Approximate transfer time from Santorini Airport : 28minutes (17km)
