Matagorda is best known for its miles of impressive, wide sandy beach. The beach here was awarded the blue flag in 2009. With the sand stretching out along the resort for a full six kilometres, the beach is so wide and spacious that visitors always have lots of space for fun and relaxation.

It's a low-key resort offering a tranquil holiday. Matagorda is a great place for sporting enthusiasts, the promenade is popular with runners and cyclists as well as those just taking a stroll. The prom connects right through to Puerto del Carmen in one direction and in the other, all the way to Playa Honda and Arrecife.

There is a good selection of bars and restaurants here, a German bakery, Irish bars, sports bars, Spanish tapas bars lots of options to sit and enjoy a drink or a meal with sea views and you can watch the comings and goings along the promenade.
