Lake Garda Holidays
Lake Garda is located in the north-east of Italy and is the largest of Italy's northern lakes. Widely regarded as one of Europe's most breath taking sights Lake Garda has all the ingredients for a perfect holiday; a fine climate, mouth-watering cuisine, stunning luscious scenery, ancient Roman ruins, quaint towns and pretty villages dotted along the shores. Lake Garda stretches between the Alps and the Dolomites, embracing a diverse scenery and sheltered in a natural sun trap.
Most of the lakeside towns are very popular as holiday resorts, all differing in character and well connected by ferry services. Sunway offer a wide selection of resorts including Peschiera, Sirmione, Gardone Riviera, Riva Del Garda, San Felice Cel Benaco and Toscalano Maderno. The lake is long and slender with the southern lakeshore low with rolling land whilst the northern lakeshore is dramatically different with its fjord like inlets and surrounding mountains and cliffs. There are various ways to get around the lake with the most appealing option probably being to take one of the many ferry services. You can pick up a timetable at any of the information / ticket kiosks at the various jetties. Buses, hydrofoils and car hire make up the other options.
The resorts of Peschiera and Sirmione are particularly popular with families with each resort offering easy access to the very popular theme parks of Gardaland and Canevaworld with Canevaworld home to Movieland Park, Caneva Aquapark amongst other attractions! Lake Garda is also home to 2 animal parks, Parco Natura Viva and Parco Giardino Sigurta. The scenery and atmopshere of Lake Garda is both charming and romantic making the lake a popular holiday retreat for couples too.Take a hillside walk breathing in the aromatic rosemary bushes and fragrant olive and lemon groves along the way, or perhaps a bicycle trail through the Alpine mountains. Or simply relax and soak up the sun on one of the little pebbly beaches. Water based activities abound here of course with a host of fun things to do including sailing, kayaking, rowing, kitesurfing and surfing.
