Easily accessible, renowned for its year round warm climate and only 25km from Malaga airport, Fuengirola is one of the most popular destinations on the Costa Del Sol. A buzzing cosmopolitan town on the Mediterranean situated between Malaga and Marbella and close to the other popular towns of Mijas and Benaladena. Particularly popular with families due to its great beaches, facilities and range of activities.
With 6km of fantastic beaches you won't be disappointed. The broad sandy beaches of Fuengirola, Las Gaviotas and Los Boliches have plenty of facilities including a variety of water sports, restaurant, cafes and sunbeds and parasols for hire. All along the beach you will find 'chiringuitos' (beach bars/restaurants). Be sure to try the fresh fish and traditional Spanish dishes! There is a wide promenade lined with palm trees and colourful flower beds. There are plenty of shops, news agents and mini markets along the seafront too.
Fuengirola boasts all the facilities a major tourist resort needs including a huge variety of restaurants, bars, night clubs, boutiques, shopping complex and sports clubs. Bioparc Zoo and the water park are sure to be hits with the kids! If you want a bit of culture check out the ruins of the Roman baths at Torreblanca or the Arab castel in Solhail. The castle is a Fuengirola landmark and dates back to Moorish times. The town has its own museum should you want to learn more about the history of the town. Fuengirola is right in the heart of the ‘Costa Del Golf' so golfers won't have to venture far to avail of several courses.
The night owl is certainly well catered for in Fuengirola with a host of bars and clubs to choose from. It is said that some of the best bars and clubs along the Costa Del Sol are in Fuengirola. All can be found close to the centre of town so easily accessible. The marina is a pleasant spot for a stroll day or night time with a range of cafes and restaurants to choose from. Outdoor café culture and terrace restaurants being particularly popular. There is still a traditional air to the marina with one area still dedicated to the local fishermen plying their trade.
The marina accommodates over 225 berths and from here you will find many day trip opportunities, from fishing trips to glass bottom boat trips to dolphin watching. Fuengirola offers a great holiday choice with the beaches and tree lined promenade the focus of daytime action and then it's time to savour the culinary delights of its restaurants and soak up the party atmosphere in this lively town.
